Charitable fund

The association’s own fund, for officers, their families and the communities they serve.

Integrity · Service · Respect

The United Police Association holds a charitable fund separate from its membership income. It exists for the moments when a colleague, a family or a community needs help that no budget line was written for.

What the fund is for

  • Officers in difficulty

Help for serving and retired officers after injury, illness or loss of livelihood.

  • Families

Support for the family of an officer killed or disabled in the line of duty.

  • Communities in crisis

Relief where the association’s members are working — after a disaster, a conflict, an emergency.

  • Training and equipment

Places on courses, and equipment, for members and services that cannot fund them.

How it is accounted for

Every payment into the fund and out of it is recorded against the purpose it was given for. Somebody who gives to the fund is entitled to know what it was spent on, and asking is not an imposition.

The fund is kept apart from the association’s membership income and its operating costs. Money given for relief is not money that pays for a website.

Supporting the fund

Donations to the fund are received through PayPal, and go to the fund rather than to the association’s running costs. You can also write to the secretariat — for a contribution by another route, for a request for help, or to ask what the fund has done.

A donation is not membership and buys nothing: it does not make the giver a member, and it confers no standing with the association. Donations are recorded against the purpose they were given for, and anyone who gives may ask what theirs was spent on.

The association counts visits with its own tables — no advertising, no third party, and nothing that follows you off this site. It is off unless you say otherwise, and you can change your mind at any time.
